Welcome to the only cartoon based learning camps in the world! We love to make information and concepts easy to understand and fun to access. We believe cartoons are the best way to do that. Our brains simplify and store information in much the same way cartoons summarize and associate ideas. Used in the right way, cartoons are a powerful learning tool. Our goal is to harness cartoons to help kids learn and understand new and complex concepts quickly, and have fun doing it. This year we’re offering Classic Cartooning and Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels at Hope College. These classes will give your child a basis for visual thinking that they will use the rest of their life. We’re revamping our program (see the Director’s Note below) and hope to see our other camps returning in the next year or two.

Those of you who know Goo U know that we normally offer six or more camps a year in various disciplines. We’re dedicated to continuing that formula, and increasing the number of offerings yearly. But after evaluating our options for growth, and the other projects Googenius is presently working on, we have decided to place most of our resources into a Character Development through Cartoons Initiative (CDCI) that is bringing together multiple community agencies to educate young children on the value of positive character. We still intend to develop a  a Goo U camp program that no one else in the world can match. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this summer, and we look forward to continuing our Cartoon SLAM (Science, Languages, Art and Music) soon. Our intention is to have twelve complete camps up and running in three communities when we start again. We’d love to see you there!

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Or $119 million if you’re Edvard Munch.

All the basics of building your own personalized characters, adding expression and laying out strips and panels with color...and we’ll complete a whole cartoon every day and see just how good we can get! Return campers will have higher level projects to work on. Visual thinking skills emphasized!

Based on the story in the HUGE GLASS COMIC BOOK, we’ll be writing our own graphic story in a style we choose, in a suburb of Comangra City (Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels City). This class is a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun and you’ll make your very own short graphic story to show your friends. Open to new and returning students!

You can check out our Facebook Page (Googenius Applied Cartooning) or follow Googe1 on Twitter for updates on all of our activities. Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you with cartoons in the future!

Thank you,

Wade Gugino
